NBA's Blazers Sign Aldridge To 5 Year Extension

Portland Locks Up Stand Out Forward for Next Several Seasons

The NBA's Portland Trailblazers signed forward LaMarcas Aldridge to a 5 year contract extension on Thursday. The exact terms of the contract were not disclosed to the media , but both parties indicated that they were extremely satisfied with the deal. Aldridge was the second overall pick in the 2006 draft by the Chicago Bulls and was traded to the Portland Trailblazers the very same day. The trade turned out to be an excellent move by the Trailblazers who have seen Aldridge pay dividends from the moment he stepped on the court for the franchise.

The move to lock up Aldridge for the next several seasons can only help an already improving franchise's betting line odds of becoming a serious contender for the NBA championship this season or in the very near future. For his short career, Aldridge has started in 157 games for Portland and he has averaged 15.4 points and 6.8 rebounds per games during that time period. Last season was a true breakout season for the 6' 11" forward from Dallas, Texas, as he was a key element in guiding the Blazers to a 54 win season and a trip to the NBA playoffs for the first time since 2003. Although the Blazers were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs in six games by the Houston rockets, Aldridge started in all 6 games and averaged 19.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. He showed that not only has he arrived as a competitive force to be reckoned with in the NBA, but that he is also a good NBA bet to excel even more this season, as his playing future has now been secured under the recent terms of his contract extension.
