NHL's Blues' Oshie To Miss At Least Two Weeks

St. Louis Blues Forward T.J. Oshie Undergoes Emergency Appendectomy

The NHL's St. Louis Blues lost another key player to the injured reserve list when forward T.J. Oshie had to have an appendectomy on Saturday after he apparently cramped up after Friday night's 3-1 victory over the Minnesota Wild. The 22 year old 2005 first round draft pick played in 17 minutes of the game Friday night before realizing after the game that something was definitely wrong in his lower right mid section. He was taken to the hospital as a precaution when it was discovered that he would need to have an emergency appendectomy just hours later on Saturday morning.

Although Oshie has had only one goal and two assists in eight games this season, the Blues betting line odds of remaining competitive on the ice continue to dwindle each day as they suffer more and more key injuries. St. Louis has already lost defenseman Barret Jackman to an ankle injury, defenseman Eric Brewer to a back injury, and forward Alex Steen to a wrist injury. Oshie will now join them on the injured list for at least the next two weeks. Considering the current health status of the Blues, they have managed to win half of their games and stay in the middle of the pack in the Central division. However, with the addition of Oshie to the injured list they are sure to begin to feel the magnitude of the losses of key personnel, and they are a good NHL bet to start to quickly fade in the standings until they can get some of their missing quality players healthy and back on the ice.
