NHL's Panthers Lose Booth To Concussion

Florida's Left Wing David Booth Released From Hospital

The NHL's Florida Panthers announced Sunday that their left wing David Booth had been released from a Philadelphia hospital after he had suffered a concussion in Saturday's game. The Flyers' General Manager Randy Sexton told the media that Booth received the concussion during the second period of the game the Panthers played at the Wachovia Center against the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday. He also announced that Booth would return to South Florida and his condition would be closely monitored by the Panthers' team medical personnel, and that at this point in time, there is no indication as to when the left winger will be well enough to return to the ice.

The loss of Booth regardless of the length of time should not have a very significant impact on the sportsbooks' betting line on the Panthers. Florida is usually priced as an underdog in the majority of its games as they have only been able to win two games so far this season and, they are sitting dead last in the Southeast standings. It is highly unlikely that the return of Booth will be enough for the Panthers to turn things around and start winning games consistently due to his presence alone. Unfortunately, the Panthers are a pretty good bet to remain at the bottom of the standings until they add some more quality skaters to their roster.
