Sacramento Signs Veteran Swingman to Active Roster
The NBA's Sacramento Kings announced Wednesday that they signed veteran swingman Ime Udoka to a contract. The terms of the deal were not released, but they did indicate that they were pleased with the successful addition of Udoka to their current active players roster. Udoka spent the preseason with the Portland Trail Blazers before being waived last month. During his 5 year career in the NBA with the Los Angeles Lakers, the New York Knicks, the San Antonio Spurs, and the Portland Trail Blazers, he has managed to average 6.0 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1 assist per game in 227 games.
The Kings are hoping that he can duplicate what he has been able to do in the past by contributing some quality minutes off of the bench aswell as provide some depth and versatility at both the guard and forward positions. However, even if Udoka is able to meet all of the franchise's expectations, they are still a sure bet to miss the playoffs again this season. The sportsbooks have made the Kings a huge long shot to do anything but be a door mat for most of the teams they will face in the NBA this season, and the addition of Udoka will certainly not change the betting odds of them becoming an overnight success story. The Kings need to start rebuilding their franchise with some top quality players before they will have any chance of becoming competitive again in the NBA.
