NFL's Colts Lose Jackson For Rest Of Season

Indianapolis Cornerback Marlin Jackson Tears ACL In Practice

The NFL's Indianapolis Colts lost another key player on their defensive unit when cornerback Marlin Jackson suffered a torn ACL in his left knee during practice on Thursday. Although the Colts organization declined to comment on the status of Jackson's injury, the Indianapolis Star first reported the news citing an anonymous source who was a person with definite knowledge of the injury. Jackson had made 23 consecutive starts for the Colts until he tore the ACL and meniscus in his right knee during a non contact practice in 2008.

This is another disappointing loss for the Colts to have to overcome as one day prior to Jackson's injury, the Colts were forced to place starting linebacker Tyjuan Hagler on the injured reserve list due to a torn biceps muscle. Jackson had already missed the past three games due to a strained ACL in his right knee but was expected to return to action this week before Thursday's mishap occurred. Despite the fact that the Colts remain undefeated at this point in the season, they can ill afford to lose another quality player from the starting defensive unit without the sportbooks' odds of their continued success being significantly diminished. Fortunately for the Colts, however, the team has been done a remarkable job adapting to all of the player and coaching personnel changes it has gone through already this season; and with a healthy Peyton Manning running the show, the Colts are a pretty good bet to defy the odds once again and somehow manage to continue to win football games regardless of the obstacles they are faced with.
