2008 MLB Baseball Playoff Chase (National League)

The 2008 MLB playoffs are right around the corner and BetSportsWeb is getting you ready for this years Pennant chase.

With only 18 days left in the regular season many teams like the Nationals and Padres have no chance to make the playoffs, but a few teams still have a shot.

Let's take a look.

In the National League East you have the Florida Marlins battling two offensive power- house in Philadelphia and New York. The Marlins are 8.5 games away from the New York Mets and are looking to catch up. It's going to be a tough road since the Fish have a losing record against the Phillies and the Mets.

Prediction-Mets

X-Factor-The Mets remaining schedule is puff cake.

St. Louis and Houston are turning it on in the heated NL West. Houston has been one of the hottest teams in baseball and looks to challenge the division leading Cubs for the title. Roy Oswalt has been on fire lately and the Cubs have been terrible in September wining only 2 of there last 10 games. How long can Chicago slide? With Milwaukee loading up and St. Louis keeping it close the NL West will be a wild ride leading into the playoffs.

Prediction-Cubs

X-Factor-The Cubs will not repeat the cataclysmic fall of the Mets last years.

Lastly, you have the NL West which has seen the rapid rise of the LA Dodgers. For the most part, the division is fairly tight with the San Francisco Giants and Colorado Rockies fighting to keep pace with Arizona and LA. No team in the West has been dominating so don't expect a wild card birth. Actually, don't expect much during the post season for any of these teams going into the World Series. The Dodgers own a worst away record then the Giants.

Prediction-Dodgers

X-Factor- Keeping Jones and Pierre on the bench.

Wild Card-Brewers

X-Factor-A GM that understands the importance of winning today.
