Baseball's Fast and Furious

With the 2009 season just kicking off it's nice to acknowledge the early trends in baseball. This season's fast and furious include seasoned vets like Albert Pujols and new combers Adam Lind. Even with a long season ahead, fantasy players can get a quick leg up on the competition while sports bettors can catch some early value on key match-ups. American League

This year's baseball fast and furious starts with Detroit's Miguel Cabrera. The 6'4'' 240 pound 3B/OF has come out swinging in 2009. Cabrera has already hit 3 homers and 10 RBI's setting a good pace at .500 in 6 games. Miguel Cabrera has already hit 178 home runs and owns a life time batting average of .310 since 2003 making Detroit (3-3) fans happy the front office pulled the trigger for him.

Another young talent is Toronto Blue Jay's (5-1) DH Adam Lind who started the 2009 season on fire crushing 3 home runs and helping the Jay's with 12 RBI's on only 12 hits. Lind tied Carlos Delgado with 11 RBI's in the first 5 games for the Jays.

Last, but not least is quick starter Nick Swisher of the New York Yankees (3-2). With only 13 at bats Swisher hit in 9 RBI's and 2 homers putting his American league leading batting average at .538.

National League

The Florida Marlins (4-1) finds another gem with 2B Emilio Bonifacio. Bonifacio has gotten off to amazing start in 2009 with 14 hits, 1 home run and 9 RBI's. The young player who split his time between the Diamondbacks and Nationals last year has the major league top batting average of .583.

St. Louis Cardinals (4-2) Albert Pujols has started off hot again hitting 9 RBI's and 3 home runs this year. Pujols is one of baseballs most prolific hitters owning a .335 batting average and amassing 322 home runs since 2001.

Another player off to a good start is Cincinnati Reds (1-3) Joey Votto. Votto has driven in 7 RBI's with only 16 at bats this year. The young player had a great season last year for Cincinnati who will need his production to compete in 2009.
