If you have time to read Brett Favre's official website, you will see the words "Favre Announces Retirement from the Jets"
I know what you're thinking.
I'm not falling for another Brett Favre offseason dog and pony show again.
Even Favre jokingly said, "I have no reason to wonder why you would be so skeptical."
Is Favre really pulling the plug on football?
The official statement from OfficialBrettFavre.com reads, "We have been informed by Brett's brother Scott that he received a phone call stating Brett would be retiring from the New York Jets. Brett would like to thank the Jets Organization for this opportunity, but at this time, he does not feel like he has anything left to give. As always, Brett would like to thank his fans for their continued support."
Drama or no drama, Favre's achievements are inspiring for any quarterback coming into the NFL.
His progression through football led the Packers to seven division championships, four NFL Championship Games, winning two, and helping the Packs win a Super Bowl Championship title.
Bret Favre has numerous QB records, including most career TDs, most passing yards, most career pass completions, most pass attempts, most consecutive starts for QBs, and most career victories.
The 39-year-old QB has decided to retire from the Jets, which left some room for speculation. Will he actually stay out of the game? Does he come back for season No. 19? Does the legend hang up the cleats forever? Does this mean There's Something About Mary II is in production? It's anyone's guess.
Oh, the drama that is Brett Favre!
Side note
The Jets will have some extra salary cap room this year due to Favre's retirement.
