The historic Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial is in its 63rd year and is still being played at the Colonial Country Club in Ft. Worth, Texas. The Invitational is the longest running event on the PGA Tour and was founded in 1946.
Some of the Colonial's past Champions include Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Sam Snead and Ben Hogan.
Last year's champion Phil Mickelson will not be defending his Crowne Plaza Invitational Championship this weekend due to his wife's recent cancer diagnosis. On Mickelson's website, the professional golfer has put his playing schedule "on hold indefinitely".
With the Colonial benefiting the more technical golfer look for golfers like Kenny Perry, Paul Casey, and Geoff Ogilvy to have a slight advantage. Perry in particular plays extremely well at the Colonial and holds many records. Accuracy, consistency, and feel should win the day.
Other players to look for on Sunday include, Tim Clark, Zack Johnson, and Brian Davis.
Dark horse players include, Chad Campbell, Justin Leonard, Stephen Ames, and Jim Furyk.
This year's event is playing as a par 70 at 7,204 feet and will showcase some of the best golfers in the world playing for a share of the 6 million dollar purse.
