Super Bowl XLIII
Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Arizona Cardinals

NFL sports betting will be at a favor pitch this week.

The high flying Arizona Cardinals (12-7) will face the tough Pittsburgh Steelers (14-4) for the Lombardi Trophy this Sunday.

Arizona

Coach Whisenhunt's second year has proved fruitful for the Cardinal faithful. The head coach has led his team to its first Super Bowl in franchise history.

One of the many reasons for this year's success is the re-emergence of Kurt Warner. Warner had an impressive 2008, passing for 4,583 yards, 30 TD's and 14 INT's and owning a very respectable 96.9 pass rating.

In addition, Warner is lucky to have two of the most dynamic wide receivers in the league. Big #11, Larry Fitzgerald is a remarkable receiver catching 96 passes for 1,431 yards and 12 TD's.

The Cardinals second threat is wide receiver Anquan Boldin who had a respectable 89 completions with 1,038 yards and 11 TD's.

The Arizona ground game was over rated, but helpful during the playoffs.

The Arizona defense was so-so during the regular season. 5th year linebacker Karlos Dansby was solid producing 119 tackles, 4 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and 2 INT's. Not much more to report on the AZ D. The Defense was not ranked top 10 in any NFL Defensive category in 2008.

Pittsburgh

Like Whisenhunt, Coach Tomlin is in his second season for Pittsburgh. Mike Tomlin has been sensational for the Steelers owning a 24-11 overall record.

One of the main reasons for Tomlin's success is the re-emergence of the defense.

Dick LeBeau's defense ranked number one in 2008 with many solid performers.

NFL Defensive Player of the Year, OLB James Harrison had a truly fantastic season.

Harrison notched up 101 tackles, 16 sacks, 7 forced fumbles and 1 INT. Following closely is LB James Farrior who produced 133 tackles and 3.5 sacks. Troy Polamalu is always a threat leading the Steelers with 7 INT's. Other Defensive standouts include End's Aaron Smith and LaMarr Woodley.

The Steelers Offense is led by QB Ben Roethlisberger. Roethlisberger had a decent 2008 passing for 3,301 yards, 17 TD's and 15 INT's. His main threat is Steelers receiver Hines Ward who caught 81 receptions for 1,043 yards and 7 TD's.

Side Notes

  • The Arizona Cardinals are only the second team to get into the Super Bowl with 7 loses.
