A Tiger Will Prowl the Greens of the Accenture

After eight months of rehabbing a surgically repaired knee, Tiger Woods is scheduled to play the Accenture Match Play Championship this weekend. Woods was quoted saying, "I'm now ready to play again."

Tiger Woods last played during the US Open which he won in a dramatic fashion beating Rocco Mediate in a playoff at Torrey Pines. Amazingly, Tiger won his 14th major on a torn ACL.

Who wins the Walter Hagen Cup is anyone guess, but having Tiger Woods back is good business. Tournament director Wade Dunagan, stated "With Tiger committing, there has been a surge in interest".

Tiger Woods fans, media and PGA officials are thrilled to have its leading star back. Tim Finchem, PGA Commissioner, said "We are delighted that Tiger is returning to competition and look forward to watching him compete next week."

Even tour pro, Kenny Perry was quoted saying, "He (Tiger Woods) carries our tour and I'm glad to have him back."

Woods is defending his Accenture Championship this week. However, this years Championship has been moved from The Gallery Golf Club in Marana to a new course at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club at Dove Mountain in Tucson, AZ.

Woods might be a little tour rusty, but he shouldn't have issues with the new course. Tiger Woods is a three-time winner of the Accenture Match Play Championship and the favorite going into this year's Championship.

Capping Golf - David Toms has had some success at this Championship and is playing well this year.

Also look at Vijay Singh, Sergio Garcia, and Stewart Cink to make a good showing. One can never over look Kenny Perry who is playing well again in 2009.

This year's Accenture Match Play Championship will be played from Feb. 23 to Mar. 1. The Championship will be played on a beautiful high desert Nicklaus Signature Course at The Ritz Carlton Golf Club, Dove Mountain Resort.

The par-72 course measures 7,833 feet and will showcase the top 64 players in the world. Tiger Woods will be making his comeback after an eight-month layoff.
